SC Magdeburg has made a critical personnel decision for the future: Bundesliga top scorer Omar Ingi Magnusson (24) has extended his contract early until 2026.
Magnusson will remain in Magdeburg for the long term, the traditional club from Saxony-Anhalt announced on Tuesday. The nimble left-hander had moved from Danish champions Aalborg to Magdeburg before the season just ended.
“I feel that the SCM would like to achieve a lot in the next few years. These are also my goals with the team. I have great confidence in Bennet Wiegert and those responsible at the club who want to form a top team,” said Magnusson, explaining his extension.
Wiegert praises Magnusson’s “outstanding season.”
Wiegert, the trainer and managing director of Sport in personal union, emphasized: “The shown performances were not to be expected in the first season. With the title in the European League and the award as top scorer of the HBL it was an outstanding season for him personally . ”
Magnusson made all 38 Bundesliga games and scored 274 goals (134 of them by seven meters).
